  • The  PDF file OUTDOOR ACCESSIBILTY gives an overview of wheelchair access to the Hamburger Kunsthalle in the outdoor area.

  • Wheelchair access to the Hamburger Kunsthalle is possible from the main station and from Glockengießerwall/Ferdinandstor. (Below you can download an audio file with directions to the museum.)

  • The historical exterior staircase has a lift that leads directly to the motorised entrance door. (The door opener is located opposite the lift, to the right of the motorised entrance door.)

  • Two parking spaces are available close to the exterior staircase. They can be accessed from Ferdinandstor; the barrier will be opened by security staff.

  • Two additional parking spaces for visitors with limited mobility are available in the indoor car park (Ferdinandstor entrance). If required, we are happy to assist our visitors in the car park – just press the call button next to the ticket machine and we will pick you up in the lift. This will take you directly to the Gallery of Contemporary Art, with access from there to the Lichtwark Gallery (old buildings).

  • The PDF file INDOOR ACCESSIBILITY gives an overview of wheelchair access in the interior of the Hamburger Kunsthalle.

  • All exhibition galleries and event spaces in the museum are wheelchair-accessible. There are elevators in all parts of the building and special lifts at two short staircases, which the museum staff will be happy to operate for you.

  • Please note: The circuit of the upper floor is interrupted by a staircase (between Galleries 3 and 4); here, it is necessary to use the lift on the opposite side of the building (between Galleries 32 and 35).

  • Two wheelchairs are available for loan at the Hamburger Kunsthalle; please contact customer relations to reserve one.

  • Stools can be borrowed free of charge to take with you into the galleries of the Hamburger Kunsthalle. These can be found at stations in the foyer, at the ticket office and in the passage to the lower level.

  • We offer seating in the form of benches at various locations in the galleries.

  • Two wheelchair-accessible toilets are available in the building: one in the lower foyer below the entrance area and one on the lower level of the Gallery of Contemporary Art.
