If you've ever wondered how artists prepare for an exhibition, whether artists also work in a home office, what it's actually like in a studio, or which artists serve as inspiration, then click through. Since April 2020, we have been giving artists the floor and let them use our Instagram account. Take a look at new works, directly into the studio or be in the middle of the exhibition setup.

Raqs Media Collective

The work »The Bicyclist Who Fell into a Time-Cone« is currently on display in our exhibition »untranquil now«. Raqs Media Collective (* 1992, by Monica Narula, Jeebesh Bagchi and Shuddhabrata Sengupta) finds itself at the nexus of contemporary art, historical enquiry, and philosophical speculation. In several languages, the word »raqs« denotes a state of revolution, whirling and turning into an intensified state of awareness. They interpret it as »kinetic contemplation« – a restless and energetic entanglement with the world and time. Raqs practices across several media; making installation, sculpture, video, performance, text, lexica, and curation.

Bastian Muhr

In his artistic practice, Bastian Muhr concentrates on formal issues revolving around drawing, developing various systems of lines and forms using a brush, pencil or chalk on paper, concrete or grass. In the process, he radically reduces his signature style. Over the years, he has developed his own typology by testing and developing ideas of form. The artist regularly develops large site-specific works in and with art institutions or in public space. Muhr also redesigned the foyer of the Gallery of Contemporary Art at the end of May 2024.
