The Hamburger Kunsthalle and its truly unique spaces are open to you – also beyond regular opening hours. You are welcome to celebrate, shoot a film or have a meeting in the special atmosphere of the new Werner Otto Hall, at the café Das Liebermann, in the collection rooms of the Lichtwark Gallery and the Galerie der Gegenwart, in the Lichthof (atrium) or our event hall. Your event will benefit the arts.

Gallery of Contemporary Art

ATRIUM

The architecturally unique atrium of the square modern wing of the Hamburger Kunsthalle built in 1997 to a design by Oswald von Mathias Ungers is the ideal location for exclusive receptions, evening events, get-togethers, lectures or concerts. It adjoins the restaurant The Cube with its summer terrace and stunning views over the Alster lake.

EVENT ROOM

The multifunctional venue is ideal for press conferences, product presentations, conventions, workshops and related formats. Special feature: it offers a breathtaking unrestricted view of the Inner and Outer Alster lakes in the centre of Hamburg close to the main station.

Spaces Lichtwark-Gallery

WERNER OTTO HALL

Next to the impressive new entrance and the splendid staircase leading up to the collection rooms is the new Event Hall whose classical pillars and restored historic mosaic floor lend it a very special aura. The hall is wheelchair-accessible and adjoins the newly reopened museum café Das Liebermann.

DAS LIEBERMANN

The venue Das Liebermann in the traditional architectural setting of the Lichtwark Gallery is one of the most delightful museum cafés in Hamburg – a perfect place to meet surrounded by so much art. Its name recalls the close personal ties between the impressionist painter Max Liebermann and the founding director of the Hamburger Kunsthalle, Alfred Lichtwark. Decked out with festive decoration, the columned hall of Das Liebermann provides a splendid setting for an evening banquet.
