Guided tours for private groups of visually impaired persons

A Museum You Can Touch

Guided tour for people with visual impairments. This offering is designed for school groups and groups of adults.

Immerse yourself with us in the history of the Hamburger Kunsthalle with its extensive collection of artworks spanning eight centuries. In this tour, exemplary highlights from the collection are discussed and made tangible through various objects and materials.

Our own bodies with their various sensory organs come to our aid on this discovery tour: The senses of hearing and touch build bridges to the artworks, which always express certain inner attitudes and experiences. Tactile copies in high relief, high-contrast foam-rubber reliefs, the recreation of depicted scenes using articulated dolls and also simply walking the length of the galleries are methods that introduce artistic ideas and make them tangible to participants in this guided tour.

Specially trained art educators guide the small groups (max. 10 people) through the collection. This offering is sponsored by Hamburg’s Department for Culture and Media.

Detailed descriptions of the artworks and exchanges about what we are seeing, touching and hearing can open up new paths to art for everyone.

The meeting point is the ticket office.
